Are You Ready for Spring Cleaning?
March 25, 2013
It’s that time of year again! Although there might still be snow on the ground in New England (and maybe more on the way), the first day of spring has come and gone and that means it’s time for spring cleaning. While the “cleaning” portion may not be an effortless, inspiring project, the after effect is usually satisfying. Use some of our tips and tricks below to help make it all seem more manageable.
The maven of all things home-inspired, Martha Stewart has a lot of tips and tricks for getting your home prepared for spring. Her room-by-room breakdown makes the entire process seem easy. Would you ever think that dusting the coils under your refrigerator would be necessary? Or that you need to wash your pillows? Martha explains the entire process to you.
Now, if you find Martha’s (very) extensive list a little daunting, simple things like donating clothes you no longer wear can make a huge impact in your home. For an easy way to make decisions on clothing, use this neat hanger trick. Start by turning all of your hangers around so that they hang the opposite way. Then, as you wear an item, turn the hanger back the right way. This will let you quickly see what you do and do not wear, making your decisions much easier.
Once your closet has had a makeover, spring also gives you a great opportunity to make sure your home is safe and healthy. Change your smoke detector batteries, replace air filters and check your medicine cabinet for expired medications.
